Next time you shop: Sesame oil, miso paste, chilli garlic sauce and Thai basil are available at most main supermarkets. A teaspoon of sesame oil adds a toasted depth; miso paste (add before hot water) brings umami; different hot sauces add more savoury flavour too, Thai basil takes it somewhere new.
